We are Tom and Rhoda Wilhoit and we have been blessed to be in the ministry together now for over 35 years. The mission of our ministry, Salt & Light, is to love God and people well and to see them transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We do this primarily through Global Missions, Discipleship and our Leadership Network. With the Scriptures as our standard and the Holy Spirit as our guide, we work to equip believers and develop leaders as we work together to make a difference in this world in both practical and spiritual ways.

About Us
Both of us received Christ at early ages and were always involved in church. In high school, we started volunteering to lead kids and youth ministries. Tom received a call to be a Youth Pastor in high school, and Rhoda felt a call to Music Ministry about the same time. We met at Jimmy Swaggart Bible College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where we continued to volunteer in ministry. We married in 1990 and soon after moved to Lakeland, FL to attend Southeastern Bible College and work part-time at Carpenter’s Home Church as High School Directors. Tom completed Bible College in 1993 and we began working full time at Fellowship of Believers Church in Sarasota at that time. We served at FOB for 27 years as Youth Pastors (1993-2003), Associate Pastors (2003-2013), and Lead Pastors (2013-2021). In 2021 we felt God say that it was time for a new season for us, so we began a journey of faith and soon after started “Salt & Light” Ministries.
Rhoda loves connecting with others, there are no strangers with her! She thrives on spending time with family, friends, and whoever she comes in contact with. She loves to study the Bible, write, play the piano, worship, teach and make a difference in people’s lives through God’s love. Tom also loves to study the Bible and share it with others through teaching and providing resources for others to grow in their faith. He also enjoys speaking engagements and seeing people transformed by the love of God.
We love spending time with our children and grandchildren! God has blessed with such a wonderful family! Most of Rhoda’s extended family live in Texas while Tom’s live in Florida. We are so thankful for our family, both near and far!
Our Summer Mission Trip to Montana
Before our team arrived for our Mission Trip, we were invited to help in a Kids Sports Camp in Montana where over 160 kids attended. What a blessing! Rhoda helped teach Cheerleading and Tom helped teach Basketball. We also were able to have devotion time each day with our groups and Tom had the honor of sharing the Gospel Message to the whole group at the end of the week. Our team from Florida joined us on our second week where we led a VBS at a church, helping them kick off a new Children's Ministry. Our team was amazing--so loving, kind and full of joy! We taught the kids each day, renovated a building that will be a new Student Ministry Center, and had a night of ministry with about 40 community teens. Overall, on this trip there were over 21 first time commitments to Christ and over 60 recommitments to Christ!
We are so thankful to all those who prayed for us, funded us and helped us make a difference and for the Holy Spirit for doing such an amazing work in so many!
